An antique equestrian keepsake. This mounted horse hoof in encased in a silver-plated surround engraved with the name "Norton" with the stamp of Rowland Ward 167 Piccadilly W. Rowland Ward (1848-1912) is one of the most celebrated taxidermists of his time. Rich in character and history, the piece offers a fascinating glimpse into the tradition of preserving a beloved horse as a lasting memento. Blacksmith marks seen on bottom of hoof. Likely once an inkwell or trophy as the topper which once adorned the top is missing.
